Gossman
Arv and Marilyn Gossman’s B&O Garden Railroad ran from 1995 to 2005 in Highland, Indiana. The ballast was raised patio block with a unique support system allowing for adjustment, if necessary, and provided a wire way eliminating the need to bury the wiring. In the spring very little adjustment was necessary and since the patio blocks were raised, the rain just ran under the patio blocks and did not create any drainage problems. The engine-operated turntable was a poor man’s way to make a roundhouse possible. The Hell Gate Bridge is a Lionel O gauge bridge modified to clear an Aristo Craft Streamline Dome car. 300 feet of track provided for continuous running on one loop and a reverse loop for two train operations. There were also six outside sidings as well as eight storage tracks on two levels in the garage. Aristo Craft Train Engineer was the operating system. Gone but not forgotten. Epilog: All track and wire was salvaged and reused in Saint John, Indiana for an indoor empire.
