Trickler
Betty Trickler’s dream came true in 1998 when a landscaper constructed the permanent raised bed with limestone blocks and filled the 30 x 14 foot bed with dirt. It sat over the winter and in the spring, Jack, her mechanical engineer (and husband), built the transformer building, laid the track and wiring and she began constructing buildings etc., from kits. Plants were added to the layout such as: four varieties of conifers, miniature hostas, variegated ajuga, blue fescue, wooly thyme from Colorado, and annuals. There is a dry water bed across the center of the layout with a village on the south end and a farm on the north end. Through the years Betty added buildings, vehicles, figures and accessories to the layout. Jack the gardener has worked hard on their acre and a half of land to create a beautiful garden of many varieties of hostas, trees, flowers and other plants. They enjoy hosting IGRS meetings, garden parties, two Tri-Kappa Garden Walks and having family, grandparents, parents and children visit and watch the trains. The layout is small, runs one G-Gauge train at a time, but is unique.
